On the 1st of February 2021, Lappie breeder and FLCV member Sarina Laurin had a bushfire tear through her property in Western Australia, destroying her home and other buildings. Luckily, Sarina and her family were safe, and they were able to move their dogs and horses out of harm’s way.
Although the property was insured, insurance payouts can take some time to come through, which means a significant initial outlay of money to replace daily essentials such as food, clothing, toiletries, and animal food/supplies.
The FLCV quickly launched a fundraiser to get funds to Sarina to enable her to get immediate and essential supplies for herself and her animals.
Within 24 hours, we raised $3000, which was sent to Sarina immediately, and within the week, we’d raised over $4000 in total.
Thank you to everyone in the Lappie community (and the broader dog community of Australia) who contributed or sent kind words to Sarina and her family. It was an incredible display of generosity, compassion and kindness, especially after COVID has impacted so many this past year.
It makes me very proud to be a part of such a tightknit and close community.
