The current FLCV Committee:
PRESIDENT - Jacqualine Lincoln
Jacqualine has been involved in the world of Finnish Lapphunds since 2003, with the arrival of her first boy, Kulta. Since then, she has become somewhat of a "Lappie-addict". Her home includes three Lappies, and she co-owns several more. She enjoys breeding and showing her Finnish Lapphunds, and is also involved in obedience, agility, tracking and herding with them. She has also had the pleasure of seeing Lappies in Finland, Denmark, France, the UK and the USA, visiting several breeders in each of those countries, and counts one of her show highlights as handling one of her boys to a BOS-Puppy at a large specialty show in Finland.
VICE PRESIDENT - Megan Ruff
Megan has been involved with Finnish Lapphunds since attending a Lappie Picnic in 2009,
welcoming her first Lappie Tarja into her home in 2010. She went from a first time dog
owner and novice showie to a regular show competitor and dabbled with some club
obedience and herding, and bred her first litter under the Aetherglow prefix in 2014. Whilst
the arrival of a baby human in 2015 means that she is temporarily not out in the ring as
often, Megan still takes an active interest in showing, training and enjoying the breed as
family members and companions.
TREASURER & SHOW SECRETARY - Sue Sharp
Sue has owned dogs all her life and took an interest in the pure bred dog world while competing in the pure bred horse world. Her first breed which she showed and bred successfully was the Border Collie. After deciding she wanted a new breed to show Sue came across the Lapphunds. Her first Finnish Lapphund was Kiki from Theldaroy’s first litter and shortly after came the Swedish Lapphunds imported from Sweden. Together with her husband, Wayne, they breed Finnish and Swedish Lapphunds under the Janoby prefix. They are very happy with the pups they have bred and look forward to growing with the breed, always willing to share information and advice gained from years of experience. Sue looks forward to their future arrivals from overseas. Sue also has a judge’s license in obedience and has competed in tracking and agility.
SECRETARY - Melissa Sparrow
Melissa’s lappie obsession began in 2011 when Claudia jokingly asked if she’d be interested in a Finn sired puppy. Having never had a dog before it came as quite a surprise to many when the answer was ‘yes’! Leevi from Magpielane kennels therefore joined Melissa’s family and from there on the addiction began! Leevi was the perfect introduction to the breed as he has the most gentile nature. Since that time, lappies have found Melissa. Kiira joined the family in 2012 at the age of one after needing a new home and was Melissa’s introduction to the show world. Then in 2014 when Iilvari (age 3yrs) from Orical Kennels came for a show holiday he instantly became part of the family and never returned. It was meant to be. Melissa’s favourite times are spent with her fur family, in particular taking photos (sorry Facebook friends!). She has participated in conformation showing and trialed in tracking and obedience and hopes to give some other sports a go in the future.
EDUCATION OFFICER - Sue Sharp
Sue continues to fill 3 roles within the FLCV, chief amongst them being the Treasurer of our club, closely followed by fulfilling the demands of the Show Secretary (assisted by a sub committee) and the important role of the Education Officer.
FUNDRAISING OFFICER - Helen Green
I entered the wonderful world of Lappies in September 2016, with the cute and cheeky and always loveable Indie. I was introduced to the breed when a friend was looking for a dog around 7 years ago, and before I knew it I was attending club walks with my Brittanys.
I have competed in agility, obedience, rally-o, tracking and shows with my Brittanys.
HEALTH OFFICER - Jacqualine Lincoln
Jacqualine has kindly continued in the role as the Health Officer this year on top of her responsibilities as the President.
MEMBER LIAISON - Alice Bayly
Alice's love of lappies started in 2013 after extensive research into suitable breeds for her lifestyle. Drawn to the intelligent nature of Finnish Lapphunds and having owned working breeds in the past, she brought Fenix home in early 2014 and he hasn't left her side since. With help from Fenix, Alice discovered her real passion in pet photography, starting her own photography business with the hope that one day she'll win the lotto so that photographing Fenix (and other peoples pets) can be her full time job.
NEWSLETTER / EDITOR - Rachael Holloway
Rachael has been involved in confirmation showing all of her life, having been 'born' into whippets. She bred several champions under the 'Zuleika' prefix in partnership with her mother. Rachael moved back to Tasmania in early 2016, after 12 dogless years in London and Sydney and promptly began looking for the right breed to add to their family. A chance sighting of a lappie set the ball rolling. In May 2016, eight week old Fleur arrived from Jacqualine Lincoln of Armahani Kennels. Then in September 2.5 year old Benni joined them and Rachael re-entered the show ring. She is hoping to welcome the first litter of Zuleika Finnish Lapphunds in 2018
PUBLICITY OFFICER - Sue Taylor
Sue's introduction to Lappies began when a good friend introduced her to the breed. Not long after, she met her first Lappies, fell in love and ended up bringing one home, all in a matter of weeks. Sue is the proud owner of the cheeky, beautiful and adventurous Mimi. At the moment, Sue and Mimi are regulars at their local obedience club and hope to do more dog sports in the future. Sue attends many FLCV functions, thoroughly enjoying them, along with the great people in the club. Being a passionate FLCV member, she's decided to join the committee and help out where she can.
PUPPY/ADULT REFERRAL OFFICER - Megan Ruff
Megan has kindly taken on the role of the Puppy/Adult referral officer whilst also undertaking another important role for the club as the Vice President.
