On the 14 October, the FLCV held a breed stand at the Frankston Pet Expo, in order to promote the Finnish Lapphunds amongst the general community.
Although being set up directly opposite the lure coursing provide an interesting situation for one particular Lappie (until given the opportunity to have a go and “get it out of his system”), it was a lovely day, made especially so by some perfect spring weather.
Thanks to all who made it down either to take part of the stand, or just pop in for a visit. Hopefully we reached a few more people on just how wonderful the Lappies are.
The Melbourne Royal Show is a rather big event for the FLCV and Lappies, what with it being one of the biggest events on the showing calendar ( Only 2nd behind our Champ Show!).
As well as the showing this year, the club decided to take up the option of having a breed stall for the enquiring public. It was fantastic to see so many members take turns at running the stand, sharing the workload around for both the people and for the ambassador- Lappies.
From all accounts this was a fantastic success, with a huge amount of enquiries made and people won over to our fabulous breed.
We also shared an enormous spread for lunch, with big thanks to everyone bringing a plate to share. It was lovely to come together as a community again!
The Finnish Lapphund Club of Victoria was lucky enough to be able to have a breed stall at the 2011 Melbourne Pet and Animal Expo, held at the Caulfield Racecourse. It was the first year that the FLCV has participated in this expo, and even though there was a lot of organising to be done, we were rewarded with considerable interest in the breed shown by both crowds that attended both days.
As well as breed stalls, there were 4 non-championship shows held over the two days, to show and educate the public, as well as help the Dogs Vic trainee judge program.
A special thanks to members of the Committee who took the time to organise and man the breed stall, as well as those who came out for the days with their Lappies to show the public our wonderful breed!
