PRESIDENT - Jacqualine Lincoln
Jacqualine has been involved in the world of Finnish Lapphunds for over eight years, with her first boy Kulta, arriving into her life in 2003. Since then, she has become somewhat of a "Lappie-addict". Her home includes three Lappies, and she co-owns several more. She enjoys breeding and showing her Finnish Lapphunds, and is also involved in obedience, agility, tracking and herding with them. She has also had the pleasure of seeing Lappies in Finland, Denmark, France, the UK and the USA, visiting several breeders in each of those countries, and counts one of her show highlights as handling one of her boys to a BOS-Puppy at a large specialty show in Finland.
VICE PRESIDENT & EDUCATION OFFICER - Sue Sharp
I have owned dogs all my life and took an interest in the pure bred dog world while competing in the pure bred horse world. My first breed which I showed and bred successfully was the Border Collie, after deciding I wanted a new breed to show I came across the lapphunds. Our first Finnish Lapphund was Kiki from Theldaroy’s first litter and shortly after came the Swedish Lapphunds imported from Sweden. We are very happy with the pups we have bred and look forward to growing with the breed, always willing to share information and advice gained from years of experience. We look forward to our future arrivals from overseas. I also have my judge’s license in obedience and have competed in tracking and agility.
SECRETARY - Terri MacDonald
Terri owns, breeds and shows Finnish Lapphunds under her Taigakoira kennel prefix. Although having being around dogs all her life, Terri was smitten a number of years ago by this highly intelligent, affectionate and gregarious breed, and now four Lappies - Bear, Tasha, Sohvi and little Ruby - all share the couch with the humans at her place. Although busy in the show ring at the moment, Terri hopes to soon start herding and also plans on returning to obedience trialling sometime in the near future.
TREASURER - Vanessa Brotto
Vanessa entered the world of purebred dogs in 1993 with Alaskan Malamutes and fell in love quickly with showing dogs. In early 2002, when there was a population of only 17 Lapphunds in Australia, her first Lapphund bounced into her life, and she was hooked on this wonderful versatile breed. Two years later she welcomed her first import from Finland into her home and heart. Since then she has co-imported two more, has been actively showing Lapphunds, and has bred 5 litters under the Articmal prefix. Aside from showing, she has dabbled in herding, obedience and agility. She currently has at home 5 Lapphunds with a few others in co-owned homes. She loves nothing better than getting her crew out for a walk and enjoying time spent with this lovely breed.
PUPPY/ADULT REFERAL OFFICER - Nicole Toohey
Nicole was first captivated by Finnish Lapphunds in 2009 after meeting the breed earlier that year. She soon fell in love with them and added the first to her household at the end of 2009 with her domino Lappie, Echo. After being bitten by the Lappie bug it wasn’t long before a second (and another domino!) was added to the household, with Alera arriving eight months later. Alera became Nicole’s first show dog and she has not looked back since.
HEALTH OFFICER - Steve Horton
When I was looking for a breed of dog to own I was instantly attracted to the high intelligence and good nature of Finnish Lapphunds. As a result Tasha came into our lives in 2008 and won our hearts. The pack now consists of Tasha, her brother Bear, her daughter Ruby, Sohvi from Watersedge and their 3 loyal humans. One day we plan to move to regional Victoria and increase the size of our pack further.
FUNDRAISER - David Ewenson
David is owned by three Lappies. Living on a property with sheep he is keen to hone their instinct abilities, and through this club, he hopes to introduce the trio ‘officially’ to sheep herding. With all-things-Lappie on his mind, David (alongside his wife Sarah - see below) breed and show under the Kalevi prefix.
PUBLICITY OFFICER & NEWSLETTER EDITOR - Sarah Ewenson
Whilst researching the ‘perfect breed’ Sarah discovered the smart, affectionate and gentle Finnish Lapphund. In 2007, a tiny puppy of just two-weeks of age sealed the deal when Miia wiggled her way into Sarah’s lap and heart. Since then, Sarah and Miia have been inseparable traveling far and wide together, from sailing excursions, obedience training to prancing around the show ring. With all-things-Lappie on her mind, Sarah (with the help of husband David), established their new kennel under the prefix Kalevi and in early 2010 welcomed the first litter into their home. Sarah looks forward to being further involved in promoting the FLCV and Finnish Lapphund breed within Australia.
WEBMASTER - Melissa Scriven
I had been waiting for my first Finnish Lapphund for quite a long while and finally, in 2009, my patience was rewarded with a little cream boy to call my own. Ahti has since made his mark in my household, with his affectionate nature and very cheeky personality. I’m now a self-confessed Lappie Addict and cannot wait for a year of not just being more personally involved with the FLCV, but showing and promoting this versatile breed, and hopefully welcoming another Lappie baby, sometime in the very near future!
WORKING DOG CO-ORDINATOR - Megan Ruff
Megan is a relative newcomer to the world of Finnish Lapphunds, with her long-awaited lappie girl Tarja arriving in her household in 2010. She and Tarja are currently enjoying learning how to impress in the show ring and also participate in obedience, where Tarja has a chance to show off her lovely nature and intelligence to people unfamiliar with the breed. Megan is planning to try some of the more energetic dog sports with Tarja and is looking forward to a long involvement with this clever, versatile breed.
